The History of the Bedjacket

First, what is the bedjacket?  Now this is just that; a jacket that you wear around the home when you are going to bed especially. It is short though and actually, it is supposed to be worn on pajamas. The bed jacket of today has a very interesting history. It cannot be told actually when the first one was worn but somewhere around the 1800s, this garment was still there. In the mid 20th century, the bed jacket became a bed attire. Sexy and seductive just like lingerie, it has since remained in the bedroom but perhaps the one person who popularized it was Joan Crawford, an actress who wore it when meeting the press when she won an Oscar in 1945. Since then, the bed jacket has attained quite a stature. It is now better, sheerer and lighter. History repeats itself and therefore this garment will keep evolving.
Today’s bedjackets come in different colors and styles to suit the taste and preference for different women. There are the soft silky smooth ones that are made of sheer or lacy fiber that displays the feminine trimmings and details are found very attractive and most seductive.

From history, trendy fashion wear for women has been preferred not only for the outdoors but also for the bedroom and this is where the evolution of lingerie started. There has been ‘no looking back and women’s underclothing have come a long way. Though the bedjacket cannot be used for much more than just that, as seductive clothing worn to bed, it really makes bed time a time to look forward to. Clinging to the body, just as it did centuries ago, this garment has really not changed much. It has perhaps just become lighter and thinner, making it a perfect undergarment for women. Centuries ago, the bedjacket was used for seduction and bedtime rather than as underwear and to date, it still serves that same purpose.
It seems that women do not really change much when it comes to the selection of naughty lingerie and if history is anything to go by, then the bedjacket has been around for as long as anyone can remember.
